Jonny Stark founded the Secret Tel Aviv Facebook Group in February 2010. Originally set up as an ex-pat group so he could meet new people and find out more about Tel Aviv, the group has now grown to over 400k members and is the go-to-place for locals and internationals to find out what is going on in the city. In 2015 he quit his job to focus on Secret Tel Aviv, grow the community, and build it into a business. As well as helping hundreds of members every day through the group, highlights include building Israel’s largest English-language tech jobs board that has helped thousands of people in the community to find jobs, creating a leading lifestyle website for Tel Aviv with over a million page views a month, and growing a weekly community newsletter to over 40k subscribers. The group has been so impactful that even Mark Zuckerberg joined in 2018 to learn more about what we were doing, and in 2020 the group initiated the largest ever environmental event in Israel where over 18k people participated in a beach cleanup and thousands of kids in schools learnt about how to improve their environmental footprint.
